Located about 40 miles from London in the ceremonial part of Essex County, Southend On Sea is a popular seaside resort. It enjoys a prime location on the north side of the Thames estuary. The economy of the town is largely based on tourism because of its close proximity to London and to the natural scenic beauty of the area. It won't take long to get around Southend by Sea on foot, you can walk from one end to the other in about fifteen minutes.
