Originally the site of a Roman settlement, Great Dunmow, in the Uttlesford District of Essex, England, has enjoyed a long history. Many of the buildings in this town date back to the Middle Ages, when it was a thriving market community. You can take the A120 from the M11 to Braintree, which is a bypass road for the old A120. The B1259 is another way you can bypass the A120 and still reach the town. It is quite near London and Stansted Airport. There are many pubs in this town as well as restaurants. The winning couple is paraded through High Street and presented with a flitch of bacon.
